still a thing of the present. Cheating has been changed in many ways. With

technology advancing so high students can even cheat with their ipods. Many ways

of cheating are still used in may different ways. Unfortunately some have not

gotten caught, and fortunately some have. Cheating has many consequences.

Weather you get caught or not. If have not gotten caught it will catch up to you in

the future.for example if you have cheated in your first three years in high school

you will pay the consequences in your SAT’S.

In a recent survey 74% of students have cheated. Cheating is caused by pressure.

         Parents pressure their children to do very well in school. And too also participate in extra curricular activities.

             Many parents have their lives set for the future with their students. Many to

make their parents happy have followed their parents dream but at the end fail. The

reason why the fail is because they would like to have their own opportunity in

life .and study what they would like to study.

      Not only in academic to students cheat. They cheat in sports. Some athletes on

the team pretend they get injured. The reason why students also cheat in sports is by pressure of their coach. They feel that they are the ones who will win or lose the game. Students are pressure and yelled at during a game.

Cheating happens in many different ways it also happens in relationship. Many couples are not mature enough for a relationship. They believe that they can go on and cheat on their partner. When they are cheating in their partner they believe that it cause no damage to them and that everything will fine. The best part is when they think that their partner will never find out it once their partner finds out they are mad and feel betrayed by their partner .They also really hurt deep down inside. hurting the other person inside.

It all comes down to …… “CHEATING IS NOT ACCEPTABLE”!!!!! You must be honest to yourself and face the fact that life is not fair! To be someone important weather its in a classroom , or a football field you must work very hard to be the very best!

Freshman year was a very intresting year for me. I came into St. Genevieve with no friends and I struggled with academics. I already knew that academics were going to be hard because I was coming from a public school.. I decided to take a challenge because I knew it was going to benefit me in the future. I remember when I met Mr. Van and talking to him about the classes I was intrested in taking. I remember telling him that I wanted to study french but I was afraid that I was going to struggle. He told me that, that was a good thing beacuse being challanged is the best way to succed!

Not only did I struggle In academics but I struggled to fit in. I thought that private school was only for rich millionaires I thought I had to be everything so that I would be accepted. I went from group to group trying to see who I belonged to! At the end I met my best friends. When I was going group to group I met some many different faces and most importantly personalities.

My freshman year I did not play anysports. As the end of the school year came to an end I decided to try spring soccer. And I love it!i knew it was going to be hard but I really wanted to face another challange!

The summer before my sophomore year I decided to contibue with soccer and play in the summre program at St. Gens. I was starting to like it a lot. After the summer program I lost weight and that when I did not like soccer I love it!!! academics were getting easier and I was having the time of my life.. Thats the year when I met my geometry teacher Mr.Anderson. He imspired to me to be a better students and I looked to him beacuse he is a samrt person but also very funny!

That year flew by!

The summer before my junior year I thought I was going to contibue with soccer but I did not! My soccer coach took me off the team because he tought I wasnt good enought for the team. I felt really bad that he dad because it affected me throught out my tear! I struggled with academics when it was gettingt easier. I had no confidence. At the end of year I got over the fact what had ahppend that summer. I got my head up and put my grades up and pass all my classes!

The summer before my senior year I attended summer school at Alemany highs chool were I met many new people. I was the spot of attencion because I was the new girl. I loved the attention I thought I was all that when really iam not. I begged my mom to transfer me out to Alemany and she said no. I didnt want to go back to St.Gens I thought evryone was not good enought for me. Then I had realized that these are my calss mates the ones i;m going to graduate with and I was happy I satayed. Acdemics were easy and I made the honor roll. I was really happy. No I’m traing with glendale community womans soccer team and u love it.

In the future i;m going to study abroad and get in to the medical field or forensic field. I’m happy I’ve have had quite an experience!!!

In the month of march and April, prom was in every seniors head. Girls were thinking about what dress would they buy to wear and who their date. On the other hand boys took a little more easier than the girls. They just worried about their tuxedos.

limousines pulled up in front of the Los Angeles Athletic club. And the couples worked their way in. As the couple worked their way inside the they started to take their pictures with the wonderful photographer we had from White Studios.

All you saw and herd at the entrance of the venue were people laughing hugging each other and most importantly complementing one another.

Dinner was fantastic, dinner consisted of three main dishes. The dishes were steak, chicken, and fish. It was a very special dinner for one reason. The reason was because we all prayed as family before dinner. What other school gets to pray with their classmates together at prom. After prayer the environment changed. People were getting more comfortable with each other.

After dinner the fun was just about to begin. D. J. Santino was the MC of the night. He had good music that made every one at prom dance all night long. Even Mr. Anderson was out in the dance floor dancing with his date. D. J. Santino had different mixture of music. It consisted of Hip Hop, R&B, old school freestyle, rock en espanol, salsa and our very special last song of the night.

in the middle of dancing D. J. Santino stop the music to announce or 2008 Prom King and Queen. Our king was Martin Madriaga and our Queen was Maria Vargas.

The fun night was all owed to our senior class president Keneka Iserhien. She worked hard for months to put prom all together.

And most importantly thanks to our staff that help chaperon prom and made it fun and safe for us.

When students where on their way to the library the were excited to see what they were able to gain from this experience. When the students arrived to the Regan library in Simi Valley, California, they were amazed . They were amazed to see such a big beautiful library.

They entered library following to a conference room where guest speaker Sam Donaldson . St Genevieve students were the only highs school students attending that conference. When the students entered the room they noticed that the adults looked at them since they first walked. ” I was not nervous at all because I know that we St.Gens students are able to behave like adults”. A couple of the valiant students asked really impressive questions. Loius Turcio asked”What do you think about Fidel Castro resining restrictions from Cuba”, Sam Donaldson replied to “Not until Both Castros are in the ground will we ever deal with Cuba”.

in the conference room we all the guests of the night were at, a special guest speaker named Sam Donaldson was an ABC reporter who knew President Reagan. Sam Donaldson covered the presidential coverage for President Reagan . Mr. Donaldson talked about hoe Preseident Reagan was a funny man and how he became really good friends with him. It was intresting ti hear a reporter talk about his experience with a president because to day in this present day we are watching today’s president electio.

After the speech conference St.Genevieve guest students were invited to a first class dinner, and again they were the only highs students invited. Before the dinner they and a conference of the Air Force one. The Air Force one was once the airplane that President would travel during his presidential term. Unfortunately the first lady Mrs, Nancy Reagan couldn’t attend the speech. Due to her accident in her home n Beverly Hills .

“It was an amzing experince” was all said by the fourteen students who attended the speech conference.

when you lie and cheat on a loved one you truly hurt them deep down inside.

Many students also cheat themselves. they cheat on tests. students feel the pressure by teachers, coaches, and most importantly their parents. academics at St. Genevieve High School are really hard.

Students cheat on their classwork and homework assignments and also in tests. Many students get disscouraged and stressed out about their assignments and studying time.

“i dont really feel pressured by my parents to do really well on school work. i am responsible and i know what i have to do to do keep my grades up in all my classes.”

not all students feel pressures to do good in school. they know how to plan their study time. unfortunatly many students dont know how to manage their studying time.

“everyday i stress out about going to school, and not understanding the lesson plan of the day. i’m really worried my grade will drop.” another student said ” my mom wants me to be a nurse when i grow up. she forced me to take pre-cal and i am really struggling with the equations. their has been a couple of times where i have my friends do my homework, said a junior. its unfortunate that students feel pressured to make their parents happy. in an everyday process students always want to make their parents happy by making their parents dreams come true. many students that have trie to make their parents dreams come true, have dropped out of college. the reason is because they have no intrest in their major, and they decide to drop out.

cheating is not only in school work and homework it also has to do alot with sports. as a national school of character St.  Genevieve High School has a reputation of winning with honor. all of our sports team have worked really hard to make it to play offs.

“this year coach archey told us in the beggining of soccer season that it was not going to be easy, we had to work to win league champions! All the practices, frustration, and fitness work was all worth it because now we are going to get championship rings.” many athletes cheat out in the court and fields. they pre-tend that they have gotten hurt, so that they can have a chance to score on the other team. that is not winning with honor, even if a school doesnt win a game the student athletes shouldnt fake an injury.

cheating and lying is really hurtful when you have been lying to a loved one that loves you and adores you for who you are. in many high school couple cases the majority have broken up because their boyfriend or girlfriend has cheated on them. when someone cheats on their partner it is hard for their partner to trust them all over again. fortunatly the cheating partner will get a second chance with their partner. the bad part about that is that it is hard to keep the trust, and that when arguing starts to happen in the relationship. and when the arguing starts occuring thats when the relationship starts to fall apart.

“my boyfriend has lied to me a couple of times and it is hard for me to believe him and trust him. it makes me sad that, i know our relationship might not work. Many feelings get hurt and its not fair when you are trying to make the relationship work.” i think its oaky to cheat on your boyfriend or girlfreind, its not like the couple is married to eachother”. on the other hand students dont think cheating is as bad beacuse they are not fully committed. ” i believe highs chool students should take relationships seriuos beacuse at the end someone will end with a broken heart.”

Fortunatley many students are mature enough to know that cheating is not right and their is many consequences to it.

# 1.      Chocolate – Valiants are giving up chocolate because they say that is too sweet and very unhealthy for them.

#2.       Pride- Mnay valiants are giving up their pride. A pride that makes them rude, and thats makes angry. They want to get to know people and show the real loving, caring person they are.

#3.       Fast  Food- Many Valiants live off fast food because they are always in a rush and they want something thtas good and fast to satisfy their stomach. Not only their stomach but their time. They say that they want to do their bodies a favor and start eating healthier  foods.

#4.      Myspace- Many Valiants are giving up Myspace for many intresting reasons. The number one reason is because they want to focus on their studies.

#5.      Soda- Many valiants are giving up soda because many of them play sports and they believe that, that is one reason why their bodies dont feel hydrated during practices and games. They would also like to start drinking more water.

       “We shall rise” and that’s exactly what the Valiant community is doing.  Over the last few years our sports team are rising up and because of the fact our supporter as well.

                    ” I’ve never attended a basketball game and this season i have had the chance to attend many of them! Wow are thet great and full of excitement”  said Deborah Parra a senior.

               Ginno Soliman and Grant Ledger seniors on varsity basketball team approach Valiants and invite them to their home games. Not only do Valiants fans fill up the stands in the gym but they also  fill up the stands in away games.  Fans come with excitment  and school spirit. In a way that represents their school that represents our school with respect.

                      At our home games other teams can show off their talents. They consists of the  boys dance team, girls dance team, cheerleaders and the new drumline of St.Genevieve high. They are a great way to entertain the crowd during half time.

                  It’s great to see or own valiants supporting one another. Not only in basketball but also in soccer. ” Wow was our first soccer league game against Bell Jeff was a hit with full of fans in the Glendale sports complex” said Julia Tello a  member of the  varsity soccer team. Back in the fall their was also great support in volleyball  games and the best attended football games.

            All sports teams have been working hard to win with honor and to make it to the play offs. Valiant fans have supported them all the way! Way to go valiants!

The newest teachers have yet to see what this is school can offer and to find out what they expect we sat down with a few of them.

Coach Ernest Siy, head coach of the girl’s Basketball team, could only sing praises of his first semester at St.Genevieve High school:

“I knew that this school was for me at the welcome freshman day, it was great to see such strong student body involvement from the beginning”.

He goes onto add,”Adapting to this school was very easy because from the start I received such great respect, not just from the students but also the parents and fellow colleagues”.

Coach Siy is not the only one to boast about his experience at our school another  new teacher also holding a position as head coach, had nothing but good things to say.

Eric Harris, head coach of the boys football team and veteran football player himself, only had more to add to the  spewing resume at our school.

At the time we interviewed coach Harris the boys varsity football team  was hard at work and he was just getting use to his duties as the junior class religion teacher.

“Excited”, that was the word he used to best experience his feelings towards all that was going on at the school.

“I’m very proud of St.Geneveieve High School and all the strides it has many and will continue to make”.

When we asked him how long he was expecting his stay at this school he snickered and replied:

“I’m noy going anywhere until they tell me to leave”.

It’s people like this that keep our school getting strong.

All these new teachers have something to offer.

Whether its Ms. Ukolowics coaching our cheerleading team, Ms.Terribili with the girls soccer team, Ms.Saundersfueling the “rebirth” of our awesome girls dance team, Mrs.Cooley taking the reaums of the ASB, Mr. Santiago working late with the science Bowl, Mr.Espinosa cracking a joke  to brighten your day or, these bright young  faces will only help the school grow greater.

Its the new and the old faces that help make St.Genenvieve High School a school of “Character”.

One of the main reasons why our valiants also visited Duquesne  was to see their sports program and teams. Duquesne is  division one in sports.

Back in the of spring 2007 Debbie  zuggets came to down to Los Angeles to visit St.Genenevieve High School. She came to talk about  Duquesnes student life- syle, city, education and their sports team. She recruited four valiants from the class of 2007 to the university of  Duquesne.Out of the four who are attending  Duquesne, two of them are joining the 2008-2009 football team.

Its great to see that the Valiants are looking at colleges outside of California. The reason is because the valiant pride in them  will be spreading out the character they’ve learned at St.Genevieve High School.

2. two secure newspapers that i have read with the same topic is how the UCLA head coach got fired and how many future football players that were planning to attend football are cahnging their mind! Milton Knox the running back for Berminghmas football team might not to continue with his palns with UCLA football.

 The other newspaper not only talks about Milton knox but on how many other football players are not planning to go to UCLA if the last head coach doesnt get re-hired. or if a better coach with the same ideas they’ll probalbly continue their plans.

6. Would you like to do something nice for the holidays? Come join the PTA program who is sponsering the used book drive through out the month of November. The books will be donated to hospitals aroung our community. These books will bring happy to faces to children and many adults. Make sure your books are in good condition so that these happy faces come to a reality. ” What better gift could we give to those who are ill”? said Carter. This holiday season make the right choice and help out with a few books.
